Simon Cowell quits nasty habit – but it’s not what you might think

Simon Cowell has quit a nasty habit. No, not the high-waist trousers – but googling himself.

The TV mogul once loved checking himself out online, confessing his ego had been “out of control”.

But now he’s decided it can also be “negative” – revealing that seeing a rival show do well makes him “physically sick”.

The 59-year-old says: “I rarely Google myself. I used to.

“When you first go on TV, your ego gets out of control. But then it all starts becoming negative.”

His comments come as his new BBC show, The Greatest Dancer, lost out to The Voice last Saturday, with an average 4.7 million viewers to their 5.3 million – which might have left him reaching for the Rennie tablets.

“I’m still competitive so when I see a competing show beginning to do well I’m actually physically sick,” he admitted – somewhat ironically –on Paul McKenna’s The Positivity podcast.

“And I don’t like my friends to do well. I think jealousy in a weird way is good for you. If you are not jealous of competitors, you’re not going to win.”

He has a point, you know. But he might want to Google the definition of friendship.
