Katy Perry’s ‘blackface’ shoes pulled from shelves in ‘racism’ row days after Gucci jumper backlash
The design of the footwear, featuring a face with red lips and blue eyes, has sparked outrage on social media with critics branding them “ignorant” and “ugly.”
A source close to Perry told TMZ that the items are being removed from sale amid the furious backlash.
The shoes, known as "Rue Face Slip On Loafers" and "Ora Face Block Heel Sandals”, are also available in gold and beige as well as black.
It was not immediately clear if the entire line is being pulled or just the black version of the shoe.
The source said: “In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes.”
Twitter users vented their fury at the I Kissed a Girl singer.
