The Great British Bake Off fans sorry to see Amelia leave the tent

The Great British Bake Off fans were sorry to see Amelia leave the tent as Michael was awarded Star Baker.

This week was bread week, and while the amateur bakers gave it their best shot, it was a bit of a slow riser for the majority of them.

We all know that Paul Hollywood’s thing is bread.

Even host Noel Fielding joked with Yorkshire contestant Amelia, saying: ‘His torso is like a baguette, I often just reach in and pull a tuft out, and then chow down.’

But despite it being his signature dish, the 53-year-old didn’t go easy on his contestants.

Giving them the challenge of a tear’n’share, a floury bun and an epic showstopper, it seems this week was just too much for Amelia, but fans were sad to see her go.

‘Amelia I love you,’ one wrote on Twitter, while another added: ‘Felt as though Paul had already determined that it was Amelia going this week, even before the showstopper.’

Someone else disagreed with the judges’ choice, adding: ‘Personally I think it’s unfair that Amelia was the one to leave bake off and the judges thought her bread was too spicy when the judging panel aren’t diverse.’

But while we said our goodbyes to Amelia, Michael was this week’s Star Baker – after all he did get Paul’s handshake.

From the get go, they smashed the tear’n’share and ended up impressing the judges with their technical burger buns it, it was quite clear they’d be presented with the accolade at the end of the episode.

And it seems fans agreed with Prue and Paul: ‘Well done Michael, really proved yourself wrong,’ one teased.

Someone commented: ‘Yay Michael! One of my favourites,’ while another wrote: ‘Micheal honestly deserves the world.’

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
