Prepping your skin for spring? It's time to invest in a body scrub
Crocodile skin is an almost inevitable result of the dryingeffects of winter weather.
This Works Perfect Legs
100% Natural Scrub, $47.
Frank Body Express-O Coffee Scrub, $20.
Trend: Body Sloughers
Crocodile skin is an almost inevitable result of the drying effects of winter weather, so getting your hands on some hard-working body exfoliators is the key to soft, supple skin. Keep within arm's reach in the shower and work over skin for glowy limbs and to keep pesky ingrown hairs at bay.
This week I try … a laser facial
Radical Skincare Express Delivery
Enzyme Body Peel, $71.
The lowdown I am at Skin Renu with therapist Jessica Lynch for a Laser Genesis facial. This treatment is based on micro pulses of light that help stimulate collagen and elastin by gently heating the upper layer of the skin. Jessica starts with a thorough but gentle cleanse, then wields the laser head over my face. Unlike some laser treatments, this one is soothing and I fall asleep during the process. The final step is a hydrating mask containing soluble collagen, hyaluronic acid and algae. Lush.
Pain factor None. The laser creates a gentle, warming sensation.
Downtime The whole exercise takes an hour. Post-treatment, my face is a little pink but this settles within an hour.
Results After only one session, my skin tone looks more even and the overall redness is reduced. Where to get it Sydney: Skin Renu, skinrenu.com.au. Cost: $350. Melbourne: The Skin Boutique, theskinboutique.com.au. Cost: $449.
At home To help keep redness in check, try Rationale Immunologist 1 Mask. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash off to give skin a soothing boost.
Amouage Imitation Man (EDP, 100ml).
In spite of using lip balm, why are my lips still dry?
Some lip balms have a base of petroleum jelly. This creates a physical barrier that feels good initially but can actually dry out your lips. Look for lip salves containing natural ingredients like papaya and macadamia such as vegan-friendly P'ure Papaya Lips, $6, purepapayacare.com.

Perfect for a Father's Day gift (and also as a cross-fragrancing treat!), cult brand Amouge's latest offering, Imitation Man, is an absolute winner.
It's an exotic, leathery chypre bulging with spices, violets, orris, myrrh and one of my favourite fragrance notes, vetiver. Amouage Imitation Man (EDP, 100ml), $399, agencedeparfum.com.au.
