Yes, You Should Be Using A Scalp Scrub
We give our strands so much love, but our scalps are often an afterthought—or not a thought—in hair-care routines. Enter scalp scrubs, which deep-clean away grime and residue.
How to use: Wet your hair and section it. “Take a small amount of the scrub and apply it directly to the part, not your hair, with your fingers,” says Justin Anderson, celebrity colorist and dpHue creative director. Repeat five or six times around scalp, then massage. Rinse well and follow with shampoo and conditioner. (Just limit this to once a week to avoid irritation!)
This scalp scrub nixes residue with sea salt and builds into a creamy lather to cleanse oily roots.
The IGK scrub clears buildup with a combo of fine walnut-shell powder and sugar, which is gentler than salt.
This option removes gunk with apple cider vinegar—which also seals the hair cuticle to keep hair color bright and shiny.
If you’re worried about scrubs making you flake even more, this shampoo draws out toxins with charcoal powder while coconut oil restores moisture.
