Adam Driver Dishes on Why He Hasn't Attended a Wrap Party Since 'Girls'

Adam Driver is a rare actor who has earned critical and audience acclaim. He rose from a working-class background to become a performer known for his work in independent films before getting cast in high-profile movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens. These days, Driver has distinguished himself as an actor who focuses on the craft, rather than the trappings of fame. In a recent interview, Driver opened up about why he doesn’t like to attend wrap parties after completing a movie project.

Adam Driver has been involved in several high-profile movie projects

Adam Driver first started receiving critical acclaim for his work in the hit HBO series Girls. As Adam Sackler, Driver proved that he was capable of expressing a gamut of emotions, inhabiting a complicated character that inspired a lot of fan reactions. In 2015, Driver got his big commercial breakthrough when he was cast as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise — a role that he has now played three times, to fan acclaim.

Since his big break, Driver has consistently chosen interesting film projects, including Spike Lee’s BlackkKlansman and Jim Jarmusch’s Patterson. For his work in BlackkKlansman, Driver was nominated for several awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. More recently, Driver worked with famed director Ridley Scott on two films, the action epic The Last Duel and the historical biopic House of Gucci.

What did Adam Driver say about avoiding wrap parties?

Adam Driver might be a famous star, but he prefers to avoid a lot of exclusive events associated with his status. In a recent interview with W Magazine, Driver opened up about why he hasn’t attended a wrap party since his days on the set of Girls. As reported by People magazine, Driver said, “I do not live in the same world as Maurizio Gucci. The way he picks up things that are valuable and discards them, the way he is the most elegant man — those qualities were interesting to think about.”

He went on to note, “But after 14 hours a day of being a Gucci, I was ready for it to be over. In general, I leave jobs immediately. I haven’t been to a wrap party since Girls. I just want to get the character out of my system and go home.”

Driver can next be seen in the film ‘White Noise’

Currently, Driver is gearing up for a big awards season, as well as working on a variety of new projects. Fans can next catch Driver in the 2022 movie White Noise, a film based on the 1985 novel of the same time. Driver’s fifth collaboration with Noah Baumbach, the movie tells the story of a train accident that casts chemical waste over a town — forcing a professor, played by Driver, to spring into action. There is no release date yet for White Noise, according to IMDb, but fans should keep a close eye out for updates on the project.

In addition to White Noise, Driver is attached to star in a sci-fi thriller called 65, which currently has no release date, and a historical drama called Yankee Comandante. Lots of rumors are swirling about Driver’s possible involvement in future Star Wars projects, with many fans clamoring to see more of Driver’s interpretation of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo — but for now, nothing has yet been announced.
