Atomic Kitten slam music industry for 'ageism' ahead of reunion tour

Atomic Kitten slam music industry for ‘ageism’ ahead of reunion tour and insist ‘women over 25 are snubbed’ as they declare: ‘B*tches, we’re back’

Atomic Kitten have slammed the music industry for being ‘ageist’ in the run-up to their reunion tour this year.

The group – consisting of Natasha Gay, 39, Liz McClarnon, 40, and Jenny Frost, 43 – made the comments while reacting to an episode of Peacock show Girls5eva, in which a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90s reunite almost two decades later.

Watching the clip, Natasha remarked: ‘Do you know what I am sick of? In the industry, it’s like it’s not below 25, like you’ve had your day.’ She then declared: ‘No, b*tches, we are back.’

Speaking their mind: Atomic Kitten – consisting of Natasha Gay, 39, Liz McClarnon, 40, and Jenny Frost, 43 – have slammed the music industry for being ‘ageist’

All three women cut typically glamorous figures as they cosied up on a pink sofa for the reaction video and proved their chemistry as a three-piece is just as strong as it ever was.

Elsewhere, Natasha also admitted she wishes she had ‘stood her ground’ more when they were starting out in the music business because they agreed to do a lot of stuff they didn’t want to do.

She shared: ‘When we were younger, sometimes it was like, ”Jump” and we’d say, ”How high?”, and we ended up doing a lot of s*it that we didn’t want to do.

‘There are a lot of things that I look back on and think, I wish I’d have stood my ground more.’

Liz then admitted: ‘I was – and even until recently – afraid of a lot of stuff, my anxiety was through the roof.’

Touching upon their wilder days, Jenny admitted that while they were a party band, they would never call in sick with a hangover.

She said: ‘We used to party quite a lot, but I will say, I never miss a day’s work because of a hangover.’

Atomic Kitten will support boyband Blue on their UK tour in September.

Atomic Kitten reunited for the first time in 15 years in July when they recorded a special version of their hit single Whole Again for Euro 2020.

Speaking at the time, the band said in a statement: ‘It’s been a whirlwind couple of days, but we are super excited and grateful to be able to contribute to the awesome energy and patriotism that is filling the England Streets with this version of Whole Again.’
