Big Brother winner Pete Bennett reveals why he really split from Nikki Grahame as he lands new Amazon Prime show
Big Brother series seven champion Pete Bennett not only won the hearts of the nation but won the heart of his housemate Nikki Grahame.
Pete, now 38, was voted the winner of the seventh series of the popular reality show in 2006, after receiving more than 60% of the final vote.
Although his reality fame continues, his romance with Nikki was short lived as Pete ended things with the outspoken star, who believes her iconic phrase will be written on her gravestone, one month after leaving the house.
And now, 14 years later, as Big Brother’s Davina McCall and Rylan Clark-Neal have looked back on the best episodes of the show on its 20th anniversary in Big Brother: Best Shows Ever, causing Pete to reminisce on his time in the house and his romance with Nikki.

Speaking to new! magazine, Pete revealed he didn’t think his relationship with Nikki impacted his time in the house.
He said: “That happened right at the end of the series. It was a good ending to the show and was nice.
“In between those times, me and Nikki were very close and cuddled and she was a great friend.”
However, it appears the confines of the Big Brother house was the one thing that kept their romance alive as Pete explained: “It didn’t really last that long afterwards because Nikki without Big Brother telling her off is another ball game.
“It worked in the house, but if there isn’t a big booming voice coming over the tannoy, there’s no stopping her. The dynamics completely changed.”
Despite being romantic with Nikki Pete, who's former housemates Grace Adams-Short and Mikey Dalton are still together, admitted he hasn’t had contact with her “for a very long time”.
Since Big Brother, Pete has dipped his toe into a number of ventures, including a celebrity cleaning service.
But, now the reality star has turned his hand to acting and stars in Amazon Prime sitcom Green Fingers.

Explaining the show, Pete said: “It’s called Green Fingers. It’s about two gardeners, Bob and Des. Bob’s the boss and I’m Des, his sidekick.
“It’s a situational comedy about the awkward things that can happen when you’re gardening.
“The first pilot is on Amazon Prime already and I’ve edited most of episode two and all of episode three. Maybe we can get you in it, Bob!”
