Caroline Flack’s boyfriend Lewis Burton speaks out after court appearance: ‘Arguments do happen every day in every relationship’
Lewis Burton has said he’s “gutted” that he “can’t protect” girlfriend Caroline Flack after they appeared in court on Monday.
The Love Island presenter, 40, pleaded not guilty to attacking her boyfriend in an attack likened to a “horror movie” by police.
Taking to Instagram after the court hearing, Lewis, 27, shared a loved-up snap with his girlfriend, saying he’s “heartbroken” that they can’t spend Christmas together in the rules of Caroline’s bail conditions.

Lewis wrote: “It’s heartbreaking I can’t see my girlfriend over Christmas.
“What I witnessed today was horrible. She did not hit me with a lamp.. Arguments do happen every day in every relationship.
“Gutted I am not allowed to protect her right now,” he added.
Caroline broke down in tears in the dock of Highbury Corner Magistrates Court as she pleaded not guilty to one charge of assault by beating.
In the court gallery, Caroline's boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27, sat amongst observers as District Judge Julie Newton heard Caroline's plea.
The 40 year old spoke only to confirm her name, address, date of birth, nationality and enter her plea.

Caroline's defence lawyer, Paul Morris told the court: “Mr Burton has never supported this prosecution. He is not the victim, as he would say, he was a witness.”
But Katie Weiss, prosecuting, replied: “Mr Burton is a victim, he received significant injury to his head.”
Giving details of the ordeal, prosecutor Katie said: “At 5.25am on the 12 December he [Lewis Burton] made an allegation against his girlfriend Caroline Flack.
“Police then made their way to the address. Police then knocked on the door eight minutes later and it was opened by both of them. Both were covered in blood.
“And in fact one of the police officers likened the scene to a horror movie. He [Burton] said he had been asleep and had been hit over the head by Caroline by a lamp. It cut his head and his face was covered in blood.
“He said that Caroline smashes a glass and caused injuries. She had two lacerations to her left wrist. She took his phone while he was sleeping. She had seen text messages which made her think he was cheating.

“In the 999 call the complainant said quite clearly that his girlfriend was beating him up. He asked repeatedly for help. He was almost begging the operator to send help.
“He said: ‘She is going mad, breaking stuff. I've just woken up. She's cracked my head open.’”
She added: “The defendant is calling him an a***hole saying 'It's all your fault, you've ruined my life', calling him an a***hole repeatedly.' He said 'you've cracked my head open'. He told the operator 'she tried to kill me mate’.”
Meanwhile, the defence told the court the couple are still in a relationship.
Judge Newton adjourned the court hearing until later today for a "risk assessment" to be carried out on Lewis Burton.
