Chris Evans, 53, isn’t one for airing his political views to his Virgin Radio listeners and on Wednesday morning it appeared he’d given up hope altogether by admitting he doesn’t really care who runs the country. Currently, the UK is under a Tory government with Boris Johnson at the helm, and the coronavirus pandemic has caused some to doubt his leadership.
I don’t really mind who’s PM anymore
But when it comes to running the country, Chris has put aside all feelings towards who’s in the hot seat.
“I don’t really mind who’s PM anymore,” he admitted, after talking about US President Donald Trump’s controversial wall between America and Mexico.
“I used to – but I don’t really care anymore who’s in charge!”
He quickly clarified his statement before he received any form of backlash: “I do care who’s in charge but I don’t necessary [care] who that might be, whether it’s Kier Starmer or Boris Johnson or whoever,” he said, pitting the new Labour Party leader against our current PM.
“Just the best person; man, women, budgie, goldfish for the job, don’t really mind!”
His flippant attitude towards the world of politics appears to have changed drastically since last year’s general election, where he revealed he and his wife Natasha had a heated row about their opposing views.
“I’ve got to say the election campaign is getting juicy, isn’t it? It’s really becoming compelling for reading and listening and viewing.
“And last night around the tea table we all registered to vote online,” he revealed.
“All very exciting.”
Now the opportunity to register to vote has ended, the host joked: “You’re too late now though,” before going on to explain the process of registering.
Chris was stunned when he found out he had to choose who he was from a list of names corresponding to his national insurance number.
“You’re like, ‘it’s me!’” he giggled as his co-star Vassos Alexander, could be heard laughing in the background.

The radio DJ said he found it “interesting” that he could see who lived around him during the process of selecting his identity.
“I didn’t know they lived there. That was quite interesting,” he said.
“Then we decided to have a debate, my wife and I about who we were going to vote,” he sighed, before he dropped a hint that he and Natasha have different political views.
“We decided to skid tail that really quickly because this isn’t going to end well.”
It isn’t known whose side who was on, only that it wasn’t good for anyone involved to continue the discussion.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio.
