Coronation Street actress Kel Allen rushed to hospital after breaking her toe in four places

Coronation Street star Kel Allen has revealed she's broken her toe.

The actress, who plays Laura Neelan in the popular ITV soap opera, made the revelation on her Twitter account, where she explained she ended up in A&E after a painful accident.

While the star didn't give any details as to how she managed to sustain the injury, Kel did say she broke her big toe in four different places.

Sharing a photo of her elevated foot bandaged up while in the hospital, she told her 3,396 fans that the NHS staff were "amazing".

She wrote: "I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the amazing staff @WWLNHS who cared for me today. You guys are the real heroes.I’ve never felt so safe & looked after," [sic] followed by a smiling face with a halo emoji.

"If you’re gonna do it, make sure you do it good & proper. Big toe broken in 4 places," Kel added alongside a crying face emoji and the hashtags #whataplonker and #NHSheroes.

Kel's co-star Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby on Corrie, was first to reply as she wrote: "Oh bloomin heck love!

"Sounds painful. Sending all the get well wishes and hopes for no heels on the cobbles anytime soon. Flats all the way take care xx," alongside a blowing kiss emoji.

To which the blonde beauty replied: "Awwh thanks darl!! The foot is well and truly up & im willing it to heal. All I’m missing now is a little bell Oh slippers all the way for those cobbles Sending lots of love poppet," [sic] with a hugging emoji and a red heart emoji.

Many of her fans also commented on the photo, wishing her a speedy recovery as one person wrote: "Hope you’re ok lovely and sending lots of love you’re way too," with a red heart emoji.

And another asked: "Oh dear Kel what ever have you done??" to which the actress replied: "You should see the scaffolding plank bench!!!!" followed by a laughing emoji and two crying emojis – possibly implying she stubbed her toe.

Kel's character Laura appeared on Corrie in April this year after portraying Tif on Emmerdale.

When the news was announced, Kel immediately took to her Twitter to say: "Well the cat’s finally out the bag! It’s official, I’m over the moon to say that I have joined the super talented cast & crew of @itvcorrie Mamma Laura Neelan has landed in Weatherfield & is about to stir things up! Missing my girl @MillieGibson01".
