Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson opens up about her dads dying wish

Kimberly Hart-Simpson has recalled her dad's heartbreaking dying wish in an emotional interview on Tuesday's Loose Women.

The soap star revealed her dad was a "hard core" fan of Coronation Street and made it his dying wish for his daughter to star in the soap someday. Her dad passed away in 2007.

Kimberly, 35, now plays Nicky Wheatley in the soap, having first joined the cobbles back in June 2020 as Daniel Osbourne's complicated love interest and left in September of the same year. Over a year away from the soap, Kimberly's character Nicky made an explosive return recently.

Speaking on Loose Women, Kimberly said: "My Dad passed away, and before he did we had many a conversation together, beautiful moments, because he knew was going.

"He said to me at the end: 'Could you do me a favour and get in Corrie?'"

She joked that his words added a lot of pressure as Kimberly said: "Do you know the stress he put on me? 10 years I've been trying to get into that show because of him.

"I just wanted to go and live a nice life and chill, but he put that on me. Now I have the life I loved because of him."

Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan congratulated Kimberly. She said: "It's fabulous that you did it."

The soap star told Loose Women that she feels her late father’s presence constantly when she’s on the Coronation Street set.

Kimberly recently paid a touching tribute to her dad on her Instagram Story.

She shared a photo of him and said: "This is my dad. Today is his birthday. 21 again. He is no longer with us but will never leave me."

She added that she misses "every single element of him".

Elsewhere on her Loose Women interview, Kimberly opened up about her sexuality.

She said: "I've always known that I fancy everyone, no stone unturned – but terminology is ever-changing.

"I was on a double date with two girls, they asked my sexual background. One of the girls described pansexuality, I didn't know what it was – when she described what it was, I thought yeah that sounds like a bit of me."

She said her family have always been great in regards to her sexuality and that "there was no big coming out story".
