Corrie’s Jack P Shepherd reveals holiday terror of ‘fatal poisoned drinks’

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has told of his terror as fellow holidaymakers started dying while he was in the Dominican Republic.

The soap actor, who plays David Platt on the cobbles, was on a romantic break to the Caribbean with girlfriend Hanni Treweek when a number of deaths on the island left them fearing the worst.

Speaking to The Sun Online Jack revealed that the holiday was "nice" until "quite a few people died".

It turned out there was a killer lurking in the rooms of some of the guests, with some British compatriots also succumbing to the fatal 'poison'.

Jack revealed: "There were a lot of people who's drinks were all poisoned from minibars. A few British and they died."

Fortunately, the outbreak was not at the resort where Jack and Hanni were staying but he admitted the shock deaths had been "a bit hairy" but they "survived and came back."

They had better luck on the way home, as they stopped at New York, which Jack said was "cool".

The FBI have launched an investigation into the poisoned drinks after 12 American tourists died while visiting the Dominican Republic.

There are fears that the alcohol was contaminated with methanol or insecticide.

The mysterious deaths has seen 74 per cent drop in tourists, with a number of other holidaymakers falling ill after visiting the island.

The island's tourism minister has denied that there has been any poisoning issues and insists it is safe to visit.
