Mark explained to host Phillip Schofield what happened on the show.

He said: “We'd been working really hard, Billie obviously had a lot to catch up on when she missed a week.

"We'd had a good week of training, really positive and happy week. Then on Friday night we said let's do one more run-through and of course that's when she went."

Phillip then explained that the clip “stops very quickly as obviously our team rush out to make sure she's okay” before playing it.

Mark then clarified: "When she goes over she bangs her head, and that's the start of the concussion, which we know she's suffering from."

He continued: "She's as well as can be expected, my sadness is she was such a lovely lady, such a lovely human, and she's had some really rough luck at the moment, so I send so much love to her."

Before the show Billie took to Instagram to share with her 2.3million followers her upset and having to quit.

She captioned a snap of her and Mark, writing: “Our first and last dance” followed by a broken heart and ice skate emoji.

Billie continued: “I am so so sad that our @dancingonice journey has come to an end after an accident in rehearsals on Friday causing me a head injury, forcing us out of the competition” followed by a sad face emoji.
