Daniel Craig has expletive-filled rant about Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Daniel Craig furiously brands claims that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was hired to ‘feminise’ James Bond as ‘f**king ridiculous’
James Bond star Daniel Craig has furiously shot down reports that writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge was recruited to revise the script for No Time To Die merely because she is a woman.
The actor, 51, bit back at a journalist in an expletive-filled rant after he was asked during a recent interview with The Sunday Times whether Waller-Bridge was hired to ‘feminise’ the 007 franchise.
‘Look, we’re having a conversation about Phoebe’s gender here, which is f**king ridiculous,’ Craig said. ‘She’s a great writer. Why shouldn’t we get Phoebe onto Bond?’

He went on: ‘I know where you’re going, but I don’t actually want to have that conversation! I know what you’re trying to do, but it’s wrong. It’s absolutely wrong.
‘She’s a f**king great writer. One of the best English writers around. I said, “Can we get her on the film?” That’s where I came from.’
He didn’t stop there: ‘She’s just brilliant! I had my eye on her ever since the first Fleabag, and then I saw Killing Eve and what she did with that and just wanted her voice. It is so unique — we are very privileged to have her on board.’
The No Time To Die script was originally drafted by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have written Bond screenplays before, and then redrafted by the movie’s director Cary Fukunaga and screenwriter Scott Z. Burns.

It was said that Waller-Bridge – who this year won multiple Emmys for her TV work – had been hired to make 007 more up-to-date in terms of women’s rights.
During an interview with Deadline in May, Waller-Bridge argued against this too.
She said: ‘There’s been a lot of talk about whether or not [the Bond franchise] is relevant now because of who he is and the way he treats women. I think that’s b*****ks!
‘I think he’s absolutely relevant now. It has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly. He doesn’t have to. He needs to be true to this character.’
Teaser: James Bond’s 007 Instagram account has teased a sneak peak of Craig in character
Filming wrapped on the latest chapter of the James Bond franchise last month and the film’s 007 Instagram account teased a sneak peak of Craig in character on Sunday – amid fan speculation a trailer could follow shortly.
The image shows Bond in a more casual attire than fans will be used to, as the character is famed for his sharp suits and expensive tuxedos.
The MI6 agent is dressed down in a white cotton shirt with its sleeves are rolled up to his elbows.
The spy seems to have just been in a fight as he has dried blood on his forehead and there is a hole where his shirt has ripped at his shoulder.
