Shirtless Danny Glover, 75, and his glamorous bikini-clad wife Eliane Cavalleiro, 55, snap selfies and frolic in the sea as they soak up the sun in Sardinia

Danny Glover and his glamorous wife Eliane Cavalleiro appeared in great spirits on Monday as they enjoyed a refreshing dip in the sea during their trip to Sardinia.

The Lethal Weapon star, 75, went shirtless and donned a pair of cropped black bottoms as he joined his bikini-clad spouse, 55, for a number of fun selfies in the sea.

The loved-up couple, who’ve been married since 2009, looked to be thoroughly enjoying their holiday as they soaked up the sun during the beach outing.

Brazilian native Eliana looked incredible as she showed off her figure in a pink tie-dye bikini, which she wore with body beads around her waist.

The scholar teamed her swimwear with a white floppy hat, gold-rimmed sunglasses and large gold hooped earrings.

The beauty was keen to capture memories from their trip as she was seen snapping a number of pics with her partner, whom she met in 2003.

While Eliana then got her Hollywood star husband to photograph her as she posed up a storm in the sea.

It comes after Mel Gibson revealed earlier this year that his long-time co-star Danny will make an appearance in the latest Lethal Weapon film, reprising his role as LAPD Sergeant Roger Murtaugh -23 years after the last instalment.

Mel, 66, also told how he asked for Danny’s blessing to direct the movie following the death of director Richard Donner – who took charge of the first four films.

He added: ‘I wish I wasn’t directing it. I wish Richard Donner was still here to do it but left us untimely, and he actually asked me, he said “Hey kid, if I don’t make it, you’ll take the reins, huh?” I told him to shut up. I think it’s an honour for me to be able to carry the flag for him’.

And after getting Richard’s blessing, Mel told how he then turned to Danny to ask his thoughts on him directing, also confirming that Danny was on board with reprising his iconic role. 

Reiterating his intention to direct the feature, Mel, who plays detective Martin Riggs, told Entertainment Tonight said: ‘Yeah, I am directing that. I’m really looking forward to it.’  

The star went on to add that his place behind the camera was bittersweet following the death of Richard, who passed away in July 2021.

Mel went on: ‘I called Danny [Glover] up, of course, and said “Hey, dude, is it okay with you if I direct this?”, to which Glover replied “Yeah, let’s go”. 

Though the plot of the fifth film in the franchise is as yet unknown, Mel told how he has complete faith in Danny, adding: ‘I know Danny’s going to pull it off real well, too. He’s kind of like the show pony in this one’.

The upcoming film is expected to enter the production phase at an unspecified date in 2022.
