Emery’s Arsenal contract revealed – and he’s getting paid less than Pellegrini

Unai Emery has signed a £6million-a-year deal to become the next Arsenal manager.

The Spaniard put put pen to paper on a lucrative contract on Wednesday to succeed Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

Emery will pocket £24m if he stays put for the duration of his deal in north London, but the 46-year-old’s contract is also heavily incentivised.

His basic pay is £2m a season less than the departing Arsene Wenger, who stood down after more than two decades in north London.

It is understood Emery’s bonuses include getting the Gunners back in the Champions League after a two-year absence.

His £6m salary makes him the sixth best-paid manager in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola will pick up a whopping £15.3m a year after penning bumper new terms following Manchester City’s title triumph.

Jose Mourinho (£15m) earns slightly less, while Manuel Pellegrini has become the highest-paid manager in West Ham’s history after agreeing a £7m-a-season contract at the London Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp (£7m) and Antonio Conte (£6.5m) also pocket more than Emery.
