Ewan McGregor reveals he’s ‘happier and better’ with girlfriend Mary Elizabeth Winstead following split from wife Eve Mavrakis

Ewan McGregor has gushed about his romance with Mary Elizabeth Winstead following a tumultuous year which also saw him file for divorce from Eve Mavrakis. 

Speaking to Men’s Journal, the actor, 48, has claimed that he is ‘happier’ with his Fargo co-star, 34, after his marriage of 22 years to Eve came to a shocking end in March. 

‘Lighter? Today? As opposed to then?” the star noted the key points of the question before replying: ‘I am better. I am happier. I think that’s true.’

His interview comes seven months after he controversially filed for divorce from Eve – six months after being spotted kissing Mary.

Eve and Ewan – who share four children – were married for 22 years, before he found love with Elizabeth.

The pair’s daughter Clara lashed out Ewan following his new romance, famously branding him a  ‘a*****e’ and Mary a ‘piece of trash.’

The father and daughter duo are now back on good terms.

Meanwhile, Ewan is currently hot on the promotional trail for the new movie Doctor Sleep, which is a sequel to the 1980 classic The Shining. 

Proving that the movie is incredibly terrifying, Ewan revealed on Tuesday instalment of Lorraine: ‘I took one of daughters she held my arm in front of her face for the whole movie.’

Speaking about his battle with alcoholism, Ewan explained:  ‘When you’re acting its very much your imagination and experience and I certainly had my problems with booze back in the day.

‘When you find me playing Danny he’s at his lowest depth. He’s rock bottom with alcohol. It’s interesting going back to play to those scenes. I was aware how familiar it all felt.’ 

Ewan plays a grown-up Danny Torrance – who appeared as a five-year-old child with psychic powers in The Shining – who struggles with alcoholism.

Directed by Mike Flanagan, the movie is set for an October 31, 2019 release.
