Harry Styles Is Not the Next James Bond, so Just Cancel the Franchise Already
Sorry, Harry Styles fans. The former One Direction singer is not about to become the next James Bond.
Earlier this week, sources claimed that Styles was in talks to replace Daniel Craig as the next 007. However, the Mail Online has now confirmed that these rumors are unfounded, which is bound to shatter a million hearts. The publication reported that a representative for Styles said that the Bond rumors “aren’t even remotely true.”
According to the Mail Online, a source previously suggested, “Harry is deadly serious. He has had a series of high-level meetings about becoming 007. Harry believes he is the final two.” The source continued, “Harry is a new age British man… he’s confident in his own skin and making him Bond would signal the franchise changing with the times.” Sadly, this source apparently didn’t know what they were talking about. Our dreams have collectively died.
Rumors abound regarding who might replace Daniel Craig in the iconic role. While Idris Elba seems like the perfect choice, everyone from Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy has been mentioned in relation to the role of James Bond. Personally, I’ll only return to the franchise if Superman himself, Henry Cavill, is cast, otherwise I simply don’t care.
Harry Styles fans shouldn’t despair, though, as the musician has several movie projects in the works. He’ll appear in Olivia Wilde’s forthcoming film, Don’t Worry Darling, and he’s reportedly in talks to star in My Policeman, a queer love story set in the 1950s.
