Helen Skelton, 37, has credited her hybrid jeep for allowing her to return home safely as she faced perilous conditions on the roads in Leeds today. The Countryfile presenter shared her concerns about the snow and ice in the region after she got back to the house she shares with her husband Richie Myler and their children Ernie and Louis.
Helen had been filming Steph’s Packed Lunch today, as she filled in for the Channel 4 show’s regular host Steph McGovern, who has been self-isolating this week.
She then took to Instagram to address the “carnage” she endured during her journey home after heavy snow disrupted the roads.
The former Blue Peter presenter posted a wintry snap of some trees she drove past covered, which were covered in snow.
In view of her 228,000 followers, Helen captioned the image: “Be careful out there…

“If you’re having to leave the house stay safe the roads in Leeds are carnage.”
Helen went on to share a snap of her red car parked in her driveway, which she revealed she has had on loan recently.
The presenter wrote: “Credit where it’s due – I have been trying out this hybrid for a month…
“Obvs haven’t been going on any road trips lately but had to go in to work today and would not have made it home today without it.
“Thank you for the loan @Jeep_UK (loan).”
It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice for Leeds, causing risky conditions.
Following her stressful journey, Helen took the opportunity to relax with her sons.
She shared photos and videos of her youngsters enjoying an arts and crafts session in their home.

Later on this evening, Helen revealed her experience fronting Steph’s daytime show had been bittersweet.
The star explained she hasn’t been able to catch up with the former BBC Breakfast presenter for a long time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Helen posted a photo of herself standing in the studio wearing a stunning white dress, which she paired with a brown leather belt that nipped her in at the waist.
She completed her outfit with a slick of berry toned lipstick and brown leather boots.
Helen captioned the snap: “I have been trying to introduce Steph to the Leeds nightlife for a year but this is the closest we have got to catching up…..Covid times!”
The star went on to announce that Strictly Come Dancing 2020 champion Bill Bailey will be guest hosting Steph’s Packed Lunch tomorrow.
Helen added: “She will be back at the helm of her ship Monday … handing the baton to @billbaileyofficial for tomorrow!!
“Have fun top team xxx (Dress and boots @reiss for those asking…..) xx.”
