Here's What Meghan and Harry Reportedly Did for Archie's First Birthday
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, may have a life unlike most 1-year-olds, but it sounds like he celebrated his birthday (May 6) in a truly relatable fashion.
"They are celebrating as a family focused on Archie and being together," a source told People. "They’ll have a smash cake and Zooms with family and friends. It’s been beautiful weather, so perhaps a family stroll with the dogs.”
The Sussexes also gave the world a look at how much Archie has grown since we saw photos of him around the holidays. Because they're no longer using their @SussexRoyal Instagram after leaving their roles as senior working members of the royal family, Markle and Prince Harry opted to release a video of the duchess reading to Archie via @SaveWithStories (created by Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams) to help raise money for Save the Children in the U.S. and the U.K. and No Kid Hungry.
"THANK YOU to Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (and Harry, The Duke of Sussex, behind the camera), for celebrating their son Archie’s first birthday by reading Duck! Rabbit! for @savewithstories! Happy birthday, Archie!," Save the Children wrote on Instagram.

Of course, with the coronavirus pandemic keeping families (even those of the royal variety) hunkered down at home, Zoom calls for celebrations have become a way of life. Hopefully, the birthday boy got in some good face time with his Uncle William, Aunt Kate, his cousins, his grandparents, and maybe even the queen, a.k.a. his great-grandmother.
The rest of the royal family also publicly wished Archie a very happy first birthday on their official Instagram feeds. "Happy Birthday to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor who is celebrating his 1st birthday today! ??," the queen's caption read. "Archie is The Queen’s eighth great-grandchild."
Here's to a great first year, Archie! Here's hoping Meghan Markle and Prince Harry keep us updated with more cute pics and videos.
