Here’s What We Know About ‘Love, Victor’ Season 2

*This article contains spoilers from the first season of Love, Victor.*

If you loved the heartwarming (and slightly sappy) story depicted in the 2018 film Love, Simon and are craving some feel-good TV, chances are you’ve already discovered its new TV spinoff coming from Hulu, Love, Victor. The story focuses on Victor Salazar as he deals with family drama, newly-formed friendships, and coming to terms with being gay. Through a series of DMs with Simon Spier (the titular character from the aforementioned film), he finally comes out to his family in the season finale, leaving ample room for a second season—should one end up being ordered by Hulu.

While it looks like social media seems to be on board (and possibly in love) with the new sitcom, there’s no word yet on whether fans could expect a season two to grace their streaming services. The good thing is that we have some info on what to expect should Hulu decide to give Victor and company another go-around.

There is no confirmation for a second season—yet.

Like Netflix, Hulu likes to take its time before announcing whether the network will renew its series’ for another season. If the show does well, fans won’t be able to go back to the halls of Creekwood High with Victor and co. until at least 2021, given that the coronavirus pandemic shut down all productions prior to the series premiere.

The new season might expand storylines and explore new ones.

If you stuck around to the end of the season, you probably have a number of lingering questions: Will Mia and Andrew break their sexual tension and get together? How will Lake and Felix be able to navigate their relationship that’s out in the open? What’s going to happen to the Salazar family? And most importantly—now that Victor is out to the most important people in his life, will he and Benji finally start dating? There are loose ends that definitely need some tying up, and hopefully this will breathe a new air of stories to tell.

Writers are already gearing up for a second season.

According to a report from Deadline, it looks like writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger already started gathering a writers’ room together (prior to the pandemic) to start brainstorming ideas for how to expand on the stories explored throughout season one.

“Right now there’s a writers room convened, we’re working on the first episodes of season two,” showrunner Brian Tanen told Gay Times. “Obviously with coronavirus and everything going on right now, we’re a little bit up in the air as to when this might go back into production. But we’re hard at work coming up with new stories for the show and we are very optimistic for the future.”

Who’s expected to return to Love, Victor?

From the way the show set up its season finale, there’s a good chance that all the major players will be returning. Keep a lookout for the whereabouts of Victor (Michael Cimino), Benji (George Sear), Mia (Rachel Naomi Hilson), Felix (Anthony Turpel), Lake (Bebe Good) and Andrew (Mason Gooding), along with their families’ dramas. And who knows? If luck would have it, fans might see Nick Robinson reprising his film role as Simon, Victor’s ever-loving gay guru.
