How clubs can still sign players after 5pm deadline revealed
The close of this summer’s transfer window is very nearly upon us.
The biggest deals have been in the goalkeeping department, as Liverpool splashed out a world record £67million on Alisson, only for Chelsea to shatter this a few weeks later when signing Kepa Arrizabalaga for £71million.
Thibaut Courtois meanwhile joined Real Madrid from the Blues for £35million.
Elsewhere both newly-promoted sides Fulham and Wolves have been busy in the transfer window strengthening their squads ahead of their first season back in the big time.
The Cottagers surprised the footballing world by landing Jean-Michael Seri while Nuno Espirito Santo’s men signed Leander Dendoncker on Deadline Day.
Transfer Deadline Day
Clubs are working hard to get deals done before the cut off at 5pm, but while this is the deadline, deals can still get done after this time.
What? We hear you say! Allow us to explain…
It’s all to do with a deal sheet!
Clubs are able to complete transfers after the 5pm cut off if a deal sheet is signed.
Deal sheets gift clubs more time to get the paperwork done if a transfer is agreed at the very last minute.
So while transfers cannot be struck after 5pm, if a club can prove they had agreed terms with a player prior to this time – with a signed and submitted deal sheet – then they are given up until 7pm in which to tie up the loose ends.
