He has been tipped to replace Daniel Craig as the news James Bond, with bookmakers placing him as the odds-on favourite.

And James Norton, 34, has revealed he finds the rumours ‘exciting and flattering’ in an interview with I News. 

The star set tongues wagging on Wednesday when he arrived at the Dunhill & Dylan Jones Pre-BAFTA dinner looking every inch the part in a black tuxedo and bow tie.

The Little Women actor told the publication: ‘The word I’d use about this is just bizarre.’ 

In April 2020, No Time To Die will see Daniel Craig don his famous tux for one final time in his fifth and final Bond film.  

The actor, 51, confirmed to Stephen Colbert in November 2019 that this would be his last time playing the role.

In 2015 the Spectre actor admitted he tried to give up the franchise, however he was lured back in for one final movie.

He told Variety that 007 movie producer Barbara Broccoli wouldn’t take no for an answer: ‘I had a nice long break [after Spectre], which I really needed. And then she was just persistent and came to me with some ideas, which we started formulating, and I got excited again.’  

The film franchise is Hollywood’s longest running and most lucrative, with the total boxoffice amount brought in by the films at $6.1 b.
