Doing what she can: It comes after the official trailer for the upcoming twelfth season was released on Saturday

Beginning with a lighter tone, the trailer opened with the Time Lord and Graham, Ryan, and Yaz arriving at a sunny retreat in matching suits.

Jumping straight back into character, Jodie tells a character offscreen: ‘The names Doctor, The Doctor.’

Stephen Fry was then seen making his guest appearance on the show, where he asks the quartet for their assistance: ‘The security of this entire planet is at stake, can we rely upon you?’

Still fun: And the clip sees things intensify for The Doctor and her companions as her arch-enemies the Cybermen make an unwelcome return

Terrifying: The classic Doctor Who villains the Cybermen were last seen in Peter Capaldi’s final season in the episode The Doctor Falls

But things don’t appear to be going well for The Doctor and Yaz, as the next scene shows them trapped underneath floorboards.

Trying to keep positive, she tells her pal: ‘I’m not where I wanted to be, but I can work with this.’

A variety of villains are glimpsed throughout the trailer, including the Judoon and a fanged, reptilian-like creature.

‘I don’t suppose you’ve seen anything weird around here?’ The Doctor asks two terrified bystanders, including guest star Goran Višnjić.

Scary: Fearful of what’s to come of her clash with the Cybermen, The Doctor says: ‘Something is coming for me, I can feel it’

Playing a Victorian-era character, Goran asks if Jodie ‘believes this is alien’ as a terrifying black scorpion-like creature with red glowing orbs on its body chases people through the street.

Lenny Henry makes a brief appearance in the trailer, as The Doctor and her friends are seen chasing him on the back of motorbikes, while he points a gun at them.

The Time Lord is next seen in Paris, 1943, where the ominous Cybermen appear to be as they are seen walking through a desolate landscape.
