Countryfile host Julia Bradbury revealed she’s back out walking at a steady pace twice a day, following her operation two weeks ago. The 51-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer just last month and has since had her left breast along with a six centimetre tumour removed.
The presenter is now taking small steps to get back to doing what she loves, but has been warned to take it easy.
On Instagram, Julia shared a video of herself going for a morning stroll in the sunshine.
She told fans: “I’m not pushing it (I’m under doctor’s orders to take it easy) but I need the outdoor time for my mental health too.
“Exercise helps fight cancer & can help with recovery too. The required dose of exercise isn’t the same for all cancers.
“Some cancers may affect parts of the body that make certain exercises dangerous.”
Julia went on to urge others who may have cancer to consult their oncologist before embarking on an exercise programme.
She added: “For breast cancer there’s a measurable effect after 3-5 hours a week.”
The outdoors lover concluded her post telling her followers she had always loved walking and hiking and was now enjoying walks in her garden.
“These days, just two weeks after my mastectomy, the garden will do. In my PJ’s,” she added.
Many of Julia’s 150,000 followers flocked to her post to comment, including Carol Vorderman.
The ex Countdown host shared multiple heart emojis on the post, adding: “Walk tall wonderful woman. Looking forward to a Welsh hike with you when you’re ready.”
Kaz59s commented: “Enjoy the fresh air.”

On October 11, the mother-of-three shared an update from her hospital bed post-operation.
The presenter told fans she needed a drain to channel surplus blood from the surgery and had to wear a mastectomy designed bra.
Julia added she was “relieved” that the operation was over, but felt “sad” that “such brutal treatment is necessary”.
Speaking to the Mail Online, she said her main focus was fighting the disease and continuing to live her life.
She said: “I still need to be a mum to my kids, a partner and a working woman, I’m still Julia.
“My plan is to come through it and out the other side and I hope to be able to do that bravely enough so that women who are scared to get tested, to get a diagnosis, go ahead.
“I want to be able to give them a wave and say, ‘Look, it’s horrible, but you can do it too’.”
The presenter has three children; Zephyr, 10 and twins Xanthe and Zena, both six.
