They announced in September that they were pregnant with Ashtyn by sharing a sweet video on Instagram.

Lutz said: ‘We’re pregnant again! This is real life… For those that don’t know, we are pregnant. Thank you all for lining with us, praying for us, supporting us. We’re so excited.’

The couple, who celebrated their third wedding anniversary in November, shared the news that they were expecting a girl with a gender reveal a month later.

The video sees the Twilight actor peaking out from behind a bouquet of flowers, across the kitchen counter from his wife.

After a brief ‘I love you’/’I love you more’ back and forth, Lutz asked his wife what was written on her sweatshirt.

The word ‘Mama’ had been visible during the video but the word before it was obscured by the floral arrangement.

Big reveal: After a brief ‘I love you’/’I love you more’ back and forth, Lutz asked his wife what was written on her sweatshirt

‘Just that we’re having a girl,’ Brittany responded while affectionately touching her baby bump and moving to reveal the word ‘girl’ on the shirt.

She burst into a huge grin while Kellan shouted ‘girl mama’ from behind the camera.

The couple said in the video that they were so excited and couldn’t wait to meet their new bundle of joy.

‘Let me see that bump,’ Kellan directed to his wife. She dutifully showed off her belly to which he responded: ‘You are beautiful.’

Brittany added: ‘It was a surprise. You know, obviously it was a surprise losing our daughter at the beginning of the year. That was tough, and still is. There still are hard moments.

‘We definitely went through a lot, and I still would like to share my journey in some way that I can in the future. Here we are with another little promise!’

Brittany shared the news of their baby loss in February 2020 with a black and white photo of herself cradling her tummy.

WHAT IS A STILLBIRTH?

A stillbirth occurs when a baby is born dead after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

If a baby dies before 24 weeks of pregnancy, it is known as a miscarriage.

Not all stillbirths can be prevented, however, not smoking or drinking, as well as not sleeping on your back and attending all antenatal appointments can reduce the risk.

What are the signs?

Signs may include the baby not moving as much as normal.

Pregnant women should contact their doctor immediately if they notice a difference to their baby’s movement.

What are the causes?

Stillbirths do not always have an obvious cause but may occur due to complications with the placenta or a birth defect.

They are also more likely to occur if women suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes or an infection that affects the baby, such as flu.

Stillbirths are more likely to occur if women are having twins or multiple pregnancies, are overweight, smoke, are over 35 or have a pre-existing condition, such as epilepsy.

What happens after a stillbirth?

If a baby has died, women may wait for their labour to start naturally or they may be induced if their health is at risk.

Bereavement support groups are available to parents who have suffered stillbirths.

Some find it helpful to name their baby or take pictures with them.

BRITTANY

Baby girl,⁣

It was my absolute honor and pleasure to be your mom these last 6 months. I did my best and it was an absolute joy seeing your little face all those times on that screen and feeling your tiny kicks.

I don’t know why it happened the way it did, but part of me finds so much peace knowing you never experienced pain or heartache and never will. You’re in the arms of Jesus now and one day we will get to meet you for real. Until I see you in heaven… your mommy loves you so much.

I’m not ready to talk about what happened, and I’m not sure I ever will. But I can say I am SO grateful for the most amazing husband who’s been by my side the entire time. I have the best most supportive family.

The prayers from friends have meant everything. My incredible doctor and the amazing team at UCLA Medical Center who kept me alive are the real MVPs. And to all of you who donate blood- I have never been more grateful for you. Without you people like me wouldn’t be here. ⁣
