King Charles gives Royal fans a smile as he ventures out in Balmoral with Camilla

King Charles III gave royal fans a wave as he ventured out in Balmoral with Camilla, Queen Consort.

The new King, 73, and his wife, 75, made their way to a Sunday Service on the estate, both still wearing black as the royal mourning period carried on until today, a week after Queen Elizabeth II 's funeral.

Crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the now most senior royals, with both of them flashing a smile and a wave to excited onlookers.

Camilla looked chic in a buttoned coat-dress with a feathered beret perched atop her head.

Charles automatically became King on 8 September after the Queen "passed away peacefully" aged 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Since his mother's death, King Charles has had many responsibilities to undertake, including visiting Scotland, Ireland and Wales as the new Monarch.

He has also taken part in a number of official duties during the mourning period of the Queen, including processions of her coffin and a coffin-side vigil, before she was laid to rest on 19 September.

In his first address as Monarch to the UK's MPs last week, King Charles spoke of feeling "the weight of history" as he faces the daunting task of taking over from his mother.

In front of 1,200 MPs, King Charles said: "As I stand before you today, I cannot help but feel the weight of history which surrounds us and which reminds us of the vital parliamentary traditions to which members of both Houses dedicate yourselves with such personal commitment, for the betterment of us all.”

The King went on to thank MPs and peers for their messages, saying: “I am deeply grateful for the addresses of condolence.”

He said the addresses “touchingly encompass what our late sovereign, my beloved mother the Queen, meant to us all”.

Charles was visibly moved when the hall of MPs sang the national anthem, 'God Save our King', and he could be seen biting a trembling lip with tears in his eyes.

He and Camilla retired to Scotland for a break following an intense ten days off duty after the passing of the Queen.

She was finally laid to rest alongside the remains of her parents, King George VI and Elizabeth, Queen Mother, her late husband Prince Phillip and the ashes of her sister Princess Margaret.

They all now lie in the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle.
