Kirstie Allsopp took to Twitter this morning as she headed to a filming location with her Channel 4 co-host Phil Spencer. Despite the fact that the pair were sat next to each other on an aeroplane, they then had to get separate cars to their final destination on arrival, in order to follow Covid protocols.
The 49-year-old presenter blasted the “daft rules” and urged for more common sense to be applied to the situation.
She also criticised the move for being bad for the environment.
Kirstie made her comments after sharing a picture of her co-star fast asleep on the plane.
The pair were flying to Edinburgh to film a new episode of their property programme Love It or List It.
“Having sat next to each other on a plane @PhilSpencerTV and I must travel to the filming location in separate taxis to adhere to Covid filming protocols.
“@WeAreALBERT needs to get hold of these daft rules and bring some environmental common sense into play. @Channel4,” she wrote online in view of her 425,400 followers.
Kirstie tagged an organisation that aims to make the film and TV industries more environmentally friendly into her post.
Many took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the matter.
“What’s common sense? It’s seems to have been replaced with fear and over reaction,” one person remarked.
“Surely you are in a work bubble and so can travel together? No different that people sitting in an office together?”(sic) a second person wrote.
“How ridiculous,” a third follower said, while another dubbed it “Ludicrous.”
However, a fourth user pointed out: “A plane has fresh air circulating throughout the large cabin all the time. A small taxi doesn’t.”

While Kirstie and Phil, who have worked together for over 20 years, were on the plane, she spoke of a “social distancing dilemma”.
The 51-year-old had fallen asleep but his protective face mask had slipped down to reveal his nose.
He was also wearing an eye mask and ear plugs to help him sleep and Kirstie wasn’t sure what to do.
“Should I wake him to pull his mask up? #SocialDistancingDilemma,” she asked fans.
Some reassured her that the air steward would probably let him know.
Earlier in the day, Kirstie had aired her frustration at the current travel restrictions in place amid the pandemic.
“Last year Summer when we knew less about how to treat Covid, didn’t have a vaccine, and hadn’t successfully rolled it out we were allowed to travel far more freely.(sic)
“What has changed so much that it is now so lethal to go to countries where things are being sensibly handled?” she tweeted.
