Lil Peep launches posthumous clothing line
Lil Peep‘s legacy will live on in the form of a fashion line.
The late rapper, who passed away last November at age 21 from a drug overdose of fentanyl and Xanax, was secretly working on his own clothing label in the months before his untimely death. Peep’s team announced the official launch of his new brand No Smoking on Instagram, asking fans to get involved in the design process.
“Gus inspired and encouraged millions to express their lives through music, art, and words,” the message reads. “One of his plans was to launch a clothing line called No Smoking. Another plan was to invite fans to create merchandise through his official site. Both ideas were set to launch early 2018. Sadly, Gus passed before either could launch. We decided to give No Smoking to those who matter most in keeping Lil Peep’s memory alive — the fans.”
The post goes on to explain that his followers can submit their ideas for apparel designs via a form on The Hyv, his online store. The fledgling label will be accepting submissions beginning August 1 at 12 p.m. PST through August 8, with approved artists receiving a percentage of the sales.
“Thank you for remaining inspired — you inspire us everyday [sic],” the message concludes. “We can’t wait to see your art.”
