Lily Allen banks 'a lot of money' flogging personalised birthday messages

Lily Allen banked ‘quite a lot of money’ when she resorted to flogging recorded birthday messages — and her clothes — in a bid to pay for her music comeback.

The newlywed pop star was forced to take drastic action as she is no longer signed to a major record label.

Having recently staged a budget wedding to US actor David Harbour at a Las Vegas chapel, where they celebrated by eating burgers in a car park, Lily had No Shame in sharing her money-making strategy.

The 35-year-old urged followers to fund her comeback, via app Cameo, and for £83-a-pop promised to ‘send messages, birthday wishes… I’ll ‘do whatever it is that you want me to do’.

She went on: ‘I want to start reading music again. It is the first time in my career I am putting an album out not on a major label. I will be using these funds to finance my musical output. So ask me to do some dumb s***. Your wish is my command and hopefully you’ll get some new music soon.’

And her plan seems to have worked.

‘The video requests are going quite well. I earned quite a lot of money in just 24 hours’ she told fans at the weekend.

Lily also sold her designer clobber on pre-loved shopping app Depop.

Since returning from her budget nuptials, she has posted pictures of a music studio at home that has kept her busy during lockdown.

And it looks like she is serious about going it alone for more chart success. Her last record, No Shame, peaked at No.8 when she was signed to her old record label Parlophone two years ago.

But it was reported last year she was axed over flagging sales. However, Lily defended her music on Twitter, insisting the record was ‘pretty good’.

Lily, who has two daughters with first husband Sam Cooper, stunned fans earlier this month when she wed Stranger Things star Harbour, 45, in a ceremony led by an Elvis Presley impersonator.

Her new fella reportedly popped the question when the pair were quarantining together back in May.

Kate’s Girl Lila: I’ve always been a model daughter

Kate Moss’s model daughter Lila Grace is the apple that didn’t fall far from the tree — revealing she started stomping around in her mum’s designer heels at the age of two.

The 17-year-old, whose dad is magazine boss Jefferson Hack, inherited the supermodel’s love of fashion when she toured the globe with mum as a child.

‘I remember when I was two, my mum and I were staying in New York. She was getting ready to go out and I saw this super sparkly, deep black eyeshadow on her dressing table. I made one of her friends apply it on me and spent the rest of the evening tottering around the room in a pair or my mum’s high heels,’ she said.

She also shared her fashion icon mum has corrected her make-up mishaps over the years.

‘My mum always tells me less is more, so I keep it really natural,’ she told Dazed Beauty.

‘There was a point when I would apply bronzer like it was moisturiser. I would cover my face in it.

‘My mum would be like, “You have so much on Lila”.’

She hopes to emulate her mum’s career and was recently the face of a campaign by Marc Jacobs — Kate’s close friend.

Sigala’s got lasting love for James… but not Kylie

Sigala says Kylie Minogue should be so lucky, lucky, lucky to work with him — after revealing he turned down a job with the pop princess.

Explaining why he refused an invite to help out on her new album Disco, the DJ, 27, said: ‘She knows I would have loved to be involved but, as an artist herself, she understands the need to focus on my own stuff. It was a very busy time back then. If she had waited ’til lockdown it would have been a different story.’

One man he did have time for was James Arthur.

After teaming up with the former X Factor champ for new track Lasting Love, Sigala told GP: ‘I’ve wanted to work with James ever since I heard his incredible voice, which was a while ago now.

‘He always struck me as a down to earth guy. I thought we would get along great and I wasn’t wrong.

‘It was great working with someone who is up for a laugh but at the same time takes music very seriously and is as much as a perfectionist as myself.’

Tell-y it like it is! The Weeknd’s love plot twist for new tunes

The Weeknd is finished writing about his own romances on song — and now wants to pay homage to the relationships of TV characters he has been watching in lockdown.

After admitting he penned 2018 EP My Dear Melancholy to get over ex-lover Selena Gomez, the 30-year-old has become obsessed with TV storylines for his next project.

‘I’ll write about their relationship or something in a song,’ said the Canadian singer, who recently topped the charts with album After Hours.

‘(But) it might never see the light of day,’ the Blinding Lights singer said of his lockdown LP.

However, if it is released, it could spawn a film, he reckons.

‘I’m trying to find a perfect balance with the film and the music. I think I might have cracked the code,’ he added.

Selena declares war on hate

Selena Gomez says it’s time to face facts after taking tackling hate speech and racism into her own hands.

Once Instagram’s most followed celeb, the US singer has messaged Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg to report his social media platforms are riddled with misinformation and bigotry.

The Ice Cream singer, 28, fears if there isn’t a clean-up before November’s US presidential election, voting might get skewed. ‘We have a serious problem. Facebook and Instagram are being used to spread hate, racism and bigotry,’ she posted.

‘Please shut down groups and users focused on spreading hate speech, violence and misinformation. Our future depends on it,’ she implored the billionaire. ‘There has to be fact-checking and accountability. Hope to hear from you ASAP.’

Bloom is keyed up for attack…

It’s not, er, Mace to meet you! New dad Orlando Bloom isn’t taking any chances after he was seen carrying a pepper spray on a key chain as he stepped out to grab coffee in the Californian city of Santa Barbara.

The Lord Of The Rings star, 43, had good reason to feel jittery after he and fiancée Katy Perry were targeted by a stalker who allegedly threatened to ‘snap his neck’.

Perry won a restraining order against William Terry, who she claimed had posted death threats on social media.

The 35-year-old also alleged he had tried to break into their home.

Jon feels at home pong-writing

Jon Bon Jovi’s latest tunes were penned in a ‘stinky’ man cave.

The Livin’ On A Prayer rocker has a studio at his home and used it to write extra tracks for a forthcoming new album as well as stream songs online from his lair during lockdown.

But while ladies pine after him, they might be grossed out to hear about his working conditions.

The 58-year-old told Guilty Pleasures: ‘That studio is definitely a man’s studio. You can spit on the floor and it stinks like men have been working. It’s not going to win any awards for being pretty.’

Bon Jovi’s 15th studio album, 2020, will be released on October 2.

I’m Depp-ly dippy about my fans

Johnny Depp praised fans as he braved a first showbiz outing since his much-publicised defamation trial.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, 57, thanked followers for standing by him as he rocked up at the 68th San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain at the weekend.

‘Hello All! Just wanted to thank you for your constant and loyal support. I am only here because of you — and only here for you,’ he wrote on Instagram.

His message came weeks after a High Court trial in London detailed his torrid and allegedly violent marriage to ex-wife Amber Heard.

The 34-year-old told the court he scrawled messages to her with a severed bloody finger and threatened to microwave their dogs — but Depp has always denied the claims.

■ BIFFY CLYRO wouldn’t trust Boris Johnson to ‘house-sit’. The rockers, Simon Neil and twins Ben and James Johnston, turned political on new album A Celebration of Endings. ‘It is about trying to make the most of a bad situation… coming to terms with s*** like Brexit and being led by a buffoon, who I wouldn’t let look after my house,’ said Simon.
