Lord Sugar, 75, shared his memories of the Queen following the news that she had died surrounded by her loved ones aged 96 yesterday. Ahead of the announcement, the businessman was one of many who had expressed his concerns about her health.

It came after Buckingham Palace announced the Queen was under medical supervision amid doctors’ worries about her wellbeing.

Last night, The Apprentice boss spoke of the moment he first saw the royal.

He wrote: “I was 6 years old when the Queen rode past us in Hackney on one of her post coronation visits.

“The streets in Northorld Road were packed with people.

“My school gave us all a coronation cup and saucer.”

He went on to say his mother had unfortunately lost the memorable gift after a fan sent in a picture of theirs.

Lord Sugar went on to share a snap of the moment he was knighted by the Queen in 2000.

The businessman made the Honours list for his services to the Home Computer and Electronics Industry.

In the picture, he was seen proudly smiling at the royal who awarded him with the medal.

Reflecting on the moment, he tweeted: “One of the greatest moments in my life with one if the greatest monach we have ever had. RIP.”

The Queen’s death comes 17 months after her husband Prince Philip died aged 99.

Lord Sugar previously shared details about a time he had dinner with the royal pair.

He said: “When I first met her, I was a superstar and was the upcoming star of the city.”

He went on to say that he and Prince Philip had an awkward exchange about how computers were made.

The businessman said, according to The Mirror: “Prince Philip said, ‘Do you do printers?’ I said, ‘Printers are not really made in England. They are made by Americans and Japanese’. He said, ‘No, not at all. IBM make printers’.

“I said, ‘Yeah they are an American company and they don’t make them in England!’ He said, ‘Yes they do!’”

Lord Sugar said he gave up the row with the Prince and continued to talk to the Queen.

The Royal Family shared a picture of Her Majesty yesterday, alongside the statement: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

The newly appointed King Charles will make a speech to the nation this afternoon.

So far, Prince Harry has been seen leaving Balmoral this morning following his grandmother’s death.
