Love Island: Fans brand Sophie 'the snake of the series'

Love Island: ‘She’s lying through her teeth!’ Fans brand Sophie ‘the snake of the series’ after she LIES to Connagh about kissing Connor

Love Island fans have branded Sophie Piper the ‘snake of the series,’ after she lied to her partner Connagh Howard about sharing a kiss with former flame Connor Durman.

In toe-curling scenes the Essex beauty, 21, fiercely denied sharing a kiss with the hunk, 25, when confronted by Connagh, 27, after he only learned about the kiss from newcomer Rebecca Gormley, 21.

Despite Sophie later admitting she did kiss Connor, fans were left in uproar as they rushed to Twitter to slam her behaviour.

Early on in the show, Sophie admitted she was ready to rekindle her romance with Conor, after he headed to the Hideaway for a date with Rebecca.

Sophie told the girls: ‘I can’t believe how much he’s changed, so much better, mature and it’s so attractive.’

It seemed she had little to fear as Connor told Rebecca he wasn’t interested in looking at any other girls until Sophie gave him a decision about their future.

He told Rebecca: ‘I don’t know what’s going on really I don’t know what Sophie’s feeling, she’s gonna let me know where her head’s at really.’

Not for me! It came after Connor admitted he only had eyes for Sophie during his date with newcomer Rebecca Gormley (left) who made a huge impact on her arrival in the villa

Later Sophie pulled Connor aside to finally address the status of their relationship, telling him: ‘I feel like I’ve kept you in the dark a bit, obviously between both of you. I need to have a conversation with [Connagh] as well.

‘But as it stands I feel like I have a better connection with you, even the way you’ve acted you’ve been very mature, you’ve handled the situation great, it’s made me fancy you even more.’

Clearly delighted things were back on track, Conor told Sophie: ‘It’s been to step back and let someone else graft you.

‘It’s been hard, I don’t want to look at anyone else at all. I think we have a good thing going,’ before the couple sealed their romance with a kiss.

Give us a kiss! The couple sealed their romance with a secret smooch, with Sophie then yet to tell Connagh that their relationship was over

Originally this earned a divided reaction from viewers, with some rejoicing and others recoiling that this couple had decided to have another go at their romance.

One posted: ‘Unpopular opinion but Connor and Sophie are actually so cute together,’ while another gushed: ‘Can Sophie and Connor just get married now pls.’

A third posted: ‘Am I the only one who actually likes Sophie and Connor?’

Some still weren’t convinced by the romance, with one writing: ‘OK so I dislike Sophie even more, I think she’s in panic so she tried to secure Connor and lie to Connagh.’

Shocking: The rekindling earned a split reaction from fans, who rushed to Twitter to share their equal delight and disdain at the relationship

Later in the show, it became clear that Sophie still hadn’t told Connagh that she had chosen Connor, and in a surprise move Rebecca broke the news to him.

As he asked about whether any of the boys had caught her eye, the Newcastle beauty said: ‘I feel like they’re threatened abs yeah, I’m not scared in the slightest I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do.’

Asked about the status of his relationship with Sophie, Connagh said: ‘I can see she does really like Connor.’

What? Rebecca then appeared to break the news to him that she heard Sophie and Connor share a kiss, simply saying: ‘I heard that Sophie kissed Connor yesterday’

Stunned into silence, Connagh eventually told Rebecca: ‘That says it all really doesn’t it.’

Later Connagh confronted Sophie about her kiss with Connor, and she was quick to lie claiming they only smooched during the Dirty Dancing challenge.

He asked her: ‘I just wanted to know where I stand. You had a kiss with him last night didn’t you?’

What happened? When questioned by Connagh about the kiss later in the show, Sophie claimed she and Connor only kissed during the Dirty Dancing challenge

Denying his claim Sophie replied: ‘No I had a kiss with me in the challenge.’

When Connagh pushed her further Sophie quickly added: ‘He did give me a peck afterwards. We had a kiss in the challenge and then we had a kiss after we spoke when he got back from his date.’

Clearly unconvinced Connagh said: ‘It’s a little bit confusing,’ before Sophie added: ‘I know I’m such an awkward person. I’m not gonna lie s**t came out of my mouth.’

In the Beach Hut Connor later said: ‘Maybe it could have been a blessing in disguise if she’s going to be telling lies I like I don’t see why you have to lie about it.’

Really? When Connagh pushed her further Sophie quickly added: ‘He did give me a peck afterwards’

‘It’s awkward’: Sophie seemed equally embarrassed by the chat, but it was unclear whether this was due to the fact that she had been caught lying

Sophie seemed equally embarrassed by the chat, but it was unclear whether this was due to the fact that she had been caught lying.

She said in the Beach Hut: ‘I f****d ….. ahh it’s f***ing awkward, I don’t want to make things awkward and stuff.

‘I know you can take it but I feel more like awkward about the situation that I hadn’t had the chance to speak to you about it. I feel a bit bad that I didn’t have the chance to tell him sooner.’

Fans rushed to social media in droves to fiercely slam Sophie’s behaviour, with one even crowning her the ‘snake of the series.’

One posted: ‘Producers better snake Sophie out in one of the challenges and show her lies,’ while another added: ‘Wowwwww Sophie is one big liar! Opinion totally changed on her!’

A third tweeted: ‘Wow Sophie what a snake and he called you for the chat.’

Another wrote: ‘SOPHIE WHY ARE YOU LYING YOU WERE NEVER GONNA TELL HIM SNAKE,’ and one added: ‘SOPHIE IS A BARE FACED LIAAAAARRRR Called it from the beginning SNAKE.’

A savage fan went onto tweet: ‘Sophie’s telling porkies & is absolutely s**t at it.’

Clearly sharing their concern for Connagh, a fan also tweeted: ‘Can’t wait for Connagh and Shaughna to get the lucky escape they deserve.’

Given that Rebecca hinted later in the show that she had her eye on Connagh during the dares challenge, it remains to be seen whether Sophie will stick with Connor, or be overtaken by jealousy.
