Lucy Fallon ‘to match £100k Coronation Street salary with Instagram ads’
Lucy Fallon is reportedly not going to miss her Coronation Street salary as she can cash in her Instagram following.
The actress was allegedly earning £100,000-a-year on the ITV soap but now she can coin this in but she won't have to commit anywhere near the same amount of time to do so.
Being part of Corrie has helped Lucy grow a healthy following on Instagram and now she is looking to use that to help negotiate advertising deals.
These deals could see Lucy earning around £2,000 per post, The Sun reports, as she makes the most of her 495,000 followers.
Rather than putting in a day's work though, Lucy can get her money for just ten minutes work in posting the advert.
The 24-year-old was seen leaving Weatherfield on screen this week after five years in the soap.
She is in hot demand now to plug products and it will be a world away from filming six episodes a week.
Lucy has already started on her Insta career with posts for fashion company InTheStyle and a bedding business.
There has been concern though that by posting too many ads, Lucy might 'dilute her appeal' and her followers will start leaving as they get fed up with an advert onslaught.
An industry insider told The Sun : “The trick is turning down things as well as saying yes. She doesn’t want to agree to everything because the bigger firms will run a mile if she starts doing teeth whitening ads or ones for food supplements.
“That way the money can go on quite dramatically and she could be left scrambling for £150 like a desperate former reality star."
They went on to point out: "She only needs to be snapped with a product once a week and post the pictures and she’s on the same cash ITV were paying her – only for a few minutes' work.”
Coronation Street bosses used to ban their stars from endorsing products on social media but after a number of big names leaving the soap, they have relaxed the rules a little.
A soap source told The Sun that this had been a "bone of contention" for a while and the cast can "now plug stuff" but they need to get permission of Corrie bosses.
