Mariah Carey revamping Vegas show after bipolar reveal
After revealing her bipolar diagnosis, Mariah Carey is looking to change up her stage show.
The superstar and legend, 48, who recently announced a new Las Vegas residency, says her upcoming shows at Caesars Palace, entitled “The Butterfly Returns,” will be different than before.
“The first was all No. 1’s,” Carey told People of her old two-year residency that ended in 2017. “This one is more of an intimate moment with me. It feels closer to who I am, as opposed to trying to fit into a box. My fans are used to me being more off-the-cuff.”
And as the mother of twins Moroccan and Monroe details, returning to Vegas is good for her family.
“There’s so much fun stuff for them to do in Vegas,” she quipped. “We swim with dolphins and things like that. They’ve come out onstage with me a couple times. They like to sing ‘Always Be My Baby.’”
Since disclosing her bipolar II diagnosis, Carey says she’s received mountains of support from fans.
“[The support] was really nice,” she said. “As long as I don’t have to stop being myself, it’s just who I am. It’s life – everybody has their own stuff.”
Carey returns to the stage July 5.
