Meghan Markle Dons a Hugo Boss Dress for Stephen Lawrence's Memorial
While the rest of the world is abuzz over the new royal baby, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are attending a memorial service for Stephen Lawrence at St. Martin-in-the-Fields this afternoon in London. Lawrence, a black British man, was brutally stabbed to death in a racially-charged attack 25 years ago. He was 18 years old.
According to People, the case “drew scrutiny on the police and led to new laws in the U.K.,” although no convictions were made until nearly 20 years later.
Today, Meghan and Harry join in on commemorating Lawerence. (Harry is reportedly doing a reading at the service.) The couple was seen arriving to the church hand in hand, and shook hands with their greeters at the front doors.
Later, they were also seen participating in the procession down the aisle of the church at the beginning of the memorial. Among those in the group was Baroness Doreen Lawerence, Stephen’s mother.
The future duchess, who ties the knot to her royal fiancé in less than a month, wore a printed sleeveless dress by Hugo Boss for the ceremony. She wore her hair in loose curls and accessorized with a nude clutch and pumps.
This is the latest of Markle’s recent appearances with Harry in the past week, following the Queen’s birthday party on Saturday, an Invictus Games reception earlier in the day, a Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting on Thursday, and a Commonwealth Youth Forum meeting on Wednesday.
