Mo Gilligan left stunned as driver refuses to talk to him amid strict Masked Singer rules
The Masked Singer: Mo Gilligan says show is 'very secretive'
The Masked Singer UK series two returned to screens last month, where a new host of hidden celebrities have been taking to the stage to perform behind extravagant outfits. The mystery contestants’ identities are guessed by the judges after their performance and a string of clues.
Comedian Mo Gilligan, 32, joined the UK panel this year alongside judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
Discussing how “secretive” the show is, he explained his own driver was told not to speak to him.
The new judge said: ”You know when they have those T-shirts saying, ‘Don’t talk to me’ that’s like a real thing.”
He then went on to say the set is “huge” to avoid any of the hidden celebrities being seen.

Mo went on to explain: “On the first day of filming, I got in the car and with the driver I was like, ‘Hello, how’s it going’.
“And the guy said to me, ‘I’ve been instructed that I can’t talk to you’.”
Reflecting on his reaction, Mo told Alison Hammond on her My Life In TV podcast: “So already, I was like, ‘OK’ and I was like ‘Why?’ I thought he was playing around.”
But, Mo added the driver had continued to tell him the pair were “not allowed” to speak throughout the journey.

The comedian went on to say that each judge and contestant also had their own “code name” when passing three gates and security before entering the building
“This happened every single day,” he added. “And then you get to another gate and then you’re finally in.
“You have to go straight through you don’t see anyone, it’s not like Davina or Rita are outside chilling, you have to go straight into your dressing room.
“It’s very very secretive.”
On why he signed up for the top-secret series, Mo said he became a huge fan of the show following Skin from Skunk Anansie’s performance of Stormzy’s Blinded By Your Grace last year.
“She was the duck and she had a choir of ducks. I couldn’t stop laughing, I found it so good, but so funny and I think that’s what really made me fall in love with the programme,” he enthused.
He added: “It’s a really fun guessing game, no one has to be malicious.
“For me as well, I wouldn’t want to be in a position being on a show I’m a judge and I’m judging people’s talents saying whether they’re good or whether they’re not because I’ve been in that position myself, so for this, you just guess, you’re on a panel and you just guess, you’re not a judge you’re a detective.
“It’s what kind of drew me to the programme. It was so fun.”
So far on the show, contestants Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Mel B have been unveiled as the singers behind their masks.
Tonight, the remaining celebrities will continue their fight to stay in the competition and keep their identities hidden.
The Masked Singer returns tonight at 7pm on ITV.
