On the rise: She penned: ‘I’m beyond ecstatic to announce that I am the new CREATIVE DIRECTOR of @prettylittlething for UK/EU. This is the biggest move in my career so far’

Speaking to The Sun, she explained: ‘I think a lot of it has come to light about me distancing myself from the show because of the new show, but really I have been doing that from the very start.

When I came out of Love Island, I never wanted to be known as a Love Islander because I felt it closed me off to a lot of other opportunities that I have now explored in the way I distanced myself.’

She continued: ‘I don’t believe, if I had stuck with ‘I’m just a Love Islander, I’m just a Love Islander’, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here now as the creative director of PLT.’

She added that her decision wasn’t ‘necessarily all strategic’ but that she ‘worked’ on distancing herself from the show as soon as she left the villa.

She added that went ‘full throttle’ in making the most of opportunities that came her way post Love Island and would change a ‘single thing’ as she’s ‘really proud’ of what she’s achieved so far.

It comes after the blonde bombshell, who met beau Tommy Fury on the show, previously shocked fans as she confessed that she has worked hard to distance herself from the platform which made her a millionaire.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed the influencer had made very little reference to the reality show during its current series on her social media profiles, prompting Molly to explain: ‘I’ve been getting so many questions about the new contestants and I wasn’t going to speak about it.’

‘Obviously the last two years I have spent so much time not necessarily removing myself, because my job was an influencer before.

‘I just don’t speak about it a lot’: Molly-Mae recently shocked fans as she said she distances herself from the show where she found fame in a recent Q&A

‘But I wanted to go back to what I was doing before without that brand of being a Love Islander or just being known for that.

‘I definitely have spent a lot of time since I came out of the show removing myself from that stereotype and by doing that I just don’t speak about it a lot.’

The model revealed that she didn’t want to be placed in ‘the Love Island bracket’ so had opted not to write about this year’s contestants on her social media profiles.

‘My work is so important and my job is everything to me and I guess I think about these things a lot,’ she said.

‘That’s quite an honest thing for me to tell you guys, but that’s just the truth.’
