New book about Winklevoss twins could get movie deal
Could Armie Hammer wind up reprising his role as twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss?
A new book proposal by Ben Mezrich — the author of “The Accidental Billionaires,” which was made into the Facebook drama “The Social Network” — is hitting publishing houses, we hear.
The planned tome’s called “Bitcoin Billionaires: A True Story of Sex, Genius, Betrayal, Redemption and the Six-Foot-Five Identical Twin Olympic Rowers Who Spun a Virtual Currency Into an Empire of Solid Gold.”
The upcoming book focuses on the behind-the-scenes story of the infamous Winklevii’s second act, after going up against Mark Zuckerberg, as the first of the cryptocurrency billionaires.
There’s buzz that there’s already a movie deal in the works for the planned book.
Hammer played Tyler and Cameron in the 2010 film “The Social Network.”
Mezrich also penned “Bringing Down the House” — about a group of MIT students who became card-counting kings and took Las Vegas for millions — which was made into the 2008 film “21.”
The Winklevoss twins, around 2012, reportedly purchased 1 percent of all bitcoins in circulation.
The investment that was valued at $11 million in 2013 is now worth over $1 billion.
