On Selling Sunset, we fell in love with Christine Quinn for her no-nonsense attitude and killer fashion choices.
And so with the exciting news that the 32-year-old is expecting her first child, we couldn’t wait to quiz her on how she plans to make her little one into a mini fashionista.
“I want to have matching outfits,” she tells us over Zoom from her home in LA. “I can imagine there will be some really cool Gucci sweatpants and booties.”
Christine confirmed she and her husband, billionaire tech entrepreneur Christian Richard, 41, were expecting earlier this month. The couple tied the knot in December 2019, and while Christine admits their baby news came a lot sooner than they expected, she says they’re “super excited” about becoming parents.

Here, Christine, who’s six months pregnant, opens up to OK! about why she’d love to film her birth, which of her co-stars she told her happy news to first and what advice her friend Miranda Kerr has given her…
Congratulations, Christine! How are you feeling?
I’m super excited. I feel tired, but then I was always tired. Now I can use the pregnancy as an excuse. Now when I’m sleeping in until noon, no one can question it! I asked my husband the other day to get me something that was only a few feet away. He was like, “Really, you can’t get it?” and I gasped and said, “I’m pregnant! Of course I can’t.” He was like, “You cannot keep using that,” so I said, “I have three more months of this, so be prepared!” It’s exciting I get to share my pregnancy with the world on Selling Sunset. I can share not only me being a raging b***h, but me being a raging hormonal b***h [laughs]. I’m so excited for the new season. Buckle up everyone!
Who is Christian Richard? Everything you need to know about Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn's husband as they announce baby news
Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn is pregnant with her first child with husband Christian Richard
How did you tell Christian the news of your pregnancy?
I wish I was more romantic and thought of more creative ideas. He started making certain foods like meat that were making me feel really sick and I kind of made a joke saying, “Oh my God, maybe I’m pregnant!” But it was way too soon. We started talking about it in the summer. I didn’t even think it was possible. I got some pregnancy tests without him knowing and I took one and I just left it on the counter. He eventually saw it and it was a really cute, intimate moment. I wanted to surprise him.
Did either of you cry?
We both did. At first he was like, “Is this serious? Is this a joke?” And then once he realised it was real, we both got really emotional. It was really sweet. So yeah, Christine Quinn does cry!
Would you let the Selling Sunset cameras film you giving birth?
I have definitely been inspired by it when I’ve watched reality TV before. I watched Khloé Kardashian give birth and Cherie give birth on Bling Empire. I talked to Cherie [Chan] last night about her process with filming and I was so inspired. Obviously two parents are involved, so I have to see if my husband is on board with it. I would love to share the experience if I could. With Covid-19 restrictions, you’re only allowed your spouse and one other person in the room, which would be my mother, so I don’t know logistically how everything is going to play out – but never say never. If I can have someone watch the show and be inspired to be a mother or realise it’s empowering, that’s really where I’m coming from.

Do you have a birthing plan?
I would love to have a natural birth. Everyone who has had an epidural is like, “Oh my gosh, why would you do that to yourself?” And I’m like, “Because I can and I’m a woman and I feel like I can handle everything.” It’s such a magical thing. But if it gets to the point where I’m uncomfortable and I need an epidural, then I’m definitely open. I know things can go wrong. It’s really all about the safety of the baby, and if they have to Edward Scissorhands me to get the baby out, I don’t really care, just as long as it’s safe. I will bounce back and I’m resilient, so I’m not worried about that.
What sort of mum do you think you’ll be?
I’m not going to be a regular mum, I’m definitely going to be a cool mum! My husband and I are really different. He’s regimented and plans everything. He’s also fantastic with business, as am I, but I’m more of a free spirit. I’m a Libra and I’m creative and nurturing. I think we have this perfect dynamic where we can play good cop and bad cop and still have that stability, but also a playful side. Christian can teach the baby things like computers, engineering and business.
You’ve said you want to make your child “extra and over the top”. How do you plan to do that?
Covid-19 has changed my style, so I think it will be a lot of fun pyjamas and sweatpants. I can imagine there will be some really cool Gucci sweatpants, booties and hats. We don’t know the sex, but I’m just looking forward to creating really fun matching outfits. I know it sounds silly, but my mum did it to me so I’ve going to do it. I want to coordinate everything – that will be so fun. I’m so obsessed with finding baby shoes. They’re so freaking cute! I already have tonnes. I think my baby will eventually have more shoes than me, and I have hundreds.
Have you got your hospital outfit planned already?
I actually have someone who is making me a custom set of pyjamas and gown. I want to feel comfortable in silk and still be fashionable at the same time. In the photos, I want to look more glamorous and feel better.
What’s your pregnancy style like?
My style has definitely changed because I can’t wear pants any more – except for yoga pants. The first bout of filming is going to be interesting because the only thing I can fit in but still look sexy at the same time is dresses. But I can’t give up heels. I wear heels to get bananas at the grocery store!
You’ve said you “don’t see gender”. Do you think you’ll maintain a gender neutral approach when raising your child?
Definitely. Obviously, when the little angel comes out we will know what he or she is and we’re sticking to a group of names that are pretty universal and really not putting too much emphasis on gender. Regardless, if they’re a boy or a girl our nursery is still neutral and it will remain that way until we have further discussions when the child is older. I just think people put too much emphasis on male or female, and in the world these days there is so much more to that and more important things.
What’s been your biggest baby splurge?
The budget will really be going on the clothes and wardrobe. All the stuff we have gotten for the nursery has been from Pottery Barn. I really love their stuff. We sat down with a designer who was able to transform the whole room. We have a jungle theme.
It’s early days, but has your pregnancy made you open to having more children?
Oh, definitely. Some days I want five because I want to be like the Kardashians, and my husband wants 20, so we need to compromise somewhere! Two or three is a realistic number.
Out of your Selling Sunset co-stars, who will meet the baby first?
Davina [Potraz], Maya [Vander] and Amanza [Smith]. Davina knew first, we talk every day. Amanza and Maya I’ve been trading tips and tricks with, and they’ve been so supportive. I don’t know why people are shocked that Amanza and I are friends. She and I talk pretty much every day. Other mamas have been so helpful, too, like Miranda Kerr, who is a personal friend of mine.
What advice has Miranda given you?
A lot on birthing and doula coaches [labour coach], which is an interesting thing. She is very organic and about being all natural, so she was giving me great recommendations on what brands I should and shouldn’t use on the baby and things I should be eating and drinking. She sent me over a whole package of goodies with the body wash she used, what she’s used on her kids and some oil. She’s been fantastic.
You shared a TikTok about how your Selling Sunset co-stars Chrishell [Stause], Mary [Fitzgerald] and Heather [Rae Young] didn’t like your Instagram post confirming your pregnancy. What was your thinking behind that?
It was just a bit of fun. A magazine pointed it out to me. I knew Chrishell blocked me a while ago, but I didn’t know if I was still blocked. It was a challenge on TikTok and it was called the friendship test. I just thought it was a cute, funny video. There really is no crazy conspiracy behind it. The TikTok says it all.
Mary said she didn’t know what your motivations were, but went on to say that she’s willing to be friends if you “treat people fairly and kindly”. What’s your reaction to that?
I have never really had a hard time with Mary, I’ve just had a hard time getting her back as a friend. Friendship is one of those things that I don’t want to have to fight for. I want people to be happy for me organically and love me. I was just hoping that we would build a stronger friendship. I really do love her as a person. I was just hoping for a little tip tap [a like] on the app. A little tip tap never hurt nobody!
