After Princess Charlotte recently turned six, her dad Prince William has sweetly revealed she's "growing up fast".

The dad-of-three, who recently opened up Aston Villa's new sporting centre, admitted his spirited daughter tells anyone who asks, that she is 16 years old and not six.

Speaking during an engagement at an engineering firm in the West Midlands yesterday, he said: "If you ask her, she says she's 16… Charlotte says, 'I'm six now, I'll do what I want'. They grow up very fast."

Prince William, 38, also shared an insight into the celebrations for his daughter's birthday.

When asked whether Charlotte had a "lovely birthday", he responded: "She did thank you very much, yes.

"Unfortunately for her obviously last year there was no birthday party because of lockdown but this year [we had] one other family, so that was it.

"So it wasn't a party but we made it as fun for her as possible."

Charlotte turned six on 2 May, and in preparation for the big day, a sweet new picture of her was released.

The stunning image showed Charlotte showing off a huge grin on her face, with her long hair falling down past her shoulders.

She looked strikingly similar to her mum Kate and wore a blue and pink Rachel Riley dress for the portrait.

The picture was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge at their Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk.

Taking photos of her children on special occasions has become a tradition for Kate, 39, who shared adorable pictures of her youngest child Prince Louis last month, when he turned three.

Some beautiful pictures of Princess Charlotte were also released in 2020 when she turned five, which showed the young royal in a gingham dress and helping to deliver packages to pensioners in their local area during the pandemic.

William and Kate, who recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, did not post a picture of Charlotte on social media for her sixth birthday after joining a boycott.

The couple were supporting big name football clubs by staying off of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for four days to show that online abuse is not acceptable.
