Emily recently opened up on family life with Peter and touched upon the difficulties of having a blended family and revealed Peter has a slightly different relationship with all of his kids.

She wrote in her OK! magazine column: “It’s Father’s Day this week so I will do a nice meal for Pete and he’ll get treated to breakfast in bed. The kids will also make him some cards. We never do anything extravagant for occasions like this because I think the small efforts are what are most important.

“I take my hat off to Pete for these last few months. He’s been awesome. He’s been mum and dad for the days I’m at work and it’s not easy, so he deserves a chilled day!

“Lockdown has been good for him not only because of spending time with the kids, but he’s starting to understand all the things that go on behind the scenes with them. Just simple things like knowing Millie’s school routine has made him feel much more involved.”

She added: “He has a slightly different relationship with all of the kids, but he’s really good at treating them all the same, which I think can be quite difficult in a blended family and with kids at such different ages.

“He’s become less strict over the years and he’s more lenient with Millie and Theo than he was with Junior and Princess.

“Discipline is definitely more my area! What I love most is the fun that he has with them and how loving he is. I haven’t seen my own dad for three months and I really miss him.”
