Real Madrid stars return to training ahead of Bayern showdown

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Real Madrid training on Monday ahead of the crunch showdown with Bayern Munich.

Zinedine Zidane’s men lead 2-1 from the first leg in Germany ahead of the return at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo was rested for the weekend win over Leganes as Zidane gave his fringe players a chance to impress.

Gareth Bale was among those to be given a run out and the Welshman opened the scoring in the 2-1 win.

The big guns were back in action on Monday though with the likes of Luka Modric, Marcelo and Sergio Ramos also returning.

Zidane has encouraged Real fans to create an atmosphere that can drag his side to the Champions League final.

"We are going to take part in a huge match. I ask my players to play like they have never done in their history, because we are going to need it to reach the final," Zidane told reporters.

"I don’t know if what happened to us against Juventus [in the quarter-finals] and Bayern last year helps us.

"We have to play a huge match. We have to be as good as ever to be able to qualify. We are prepared and have great determination. We will play our game of the year."

Zidane also refused to guarantee Gareth Bale will start against Bayern after his goal against Leganes

"Bale needs to do the same as he has been doing," Zidane said.

"He played well today. He played the 90 minutes, but that does not mean he will not start the game on Tuesday."

Real face Barcelona in the Clasico next week and face having to give their rivals a guard of honour.

Barca wrapped up the La Liga title by beating Deportivo 3-2 on Sunday.
