The shame-faced star admitted making a “serious and inexcusable error of judgement” by celebrating with up to 30 guests into the early hours at a restaurant in Notting Hill, west London. She said in an Instagram statement she thought the get-together was allowed because “we were coming out of lockdown”.

Saturday’s event came four days ahead of the restrictions easing and would still breach the ban on households mixing planned for when London goes into Tier 2.

Rita went to police voluntarily after officers were called to Casa Cruz and were unable to get a response from inside.

Even the restaurant’s billionaire owner Francois Perrod, a 43-year-old businessman and racing driver, had no idea the party was being staged.

The star said: “I’m deeply sorry for breaking the rules.”
