Saira Khan has hit out at Loose Women as she claimed the ITV show’s environment had become ‘toxic’ in a new interview.
The 52 year old first opened up honestly about her negative thoughts over her experience on the programme back in January.
Now the mum-of-two has explained that while her decision to quit the daytime favourite came from a “mixture of things” and insisted she’d just outgrown it, another reason was due to the “horrendous trolling” she and the rest of the stars received.
She also said that the atmosphere on the programme had become “toxic”, and while it’s a show “for women”, the former Apprentice star told The Mirror: “I don’t feel like it empowered me.”
OK! has contacted a representative for ITV.
While the presenter also opened up on not getting on with some of her co-stars, she said she has kept in touch with Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson and Christine Lampard since she left.
Saira also recently revealed her decision to finally step back from Loose Women was prompted by her experience on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
She said the power of being “stripped” down and forced to “depend upon yourself” made her realise she didn’t want to “go back to the same s**t getting the same results”.
Saira insisted she was ready to change her life and is “very happy about it”, strolling into ITV to hand in her notice after five years on the panel.
The star joined the likes of Ore Oduba, Alexandra Burke and Kerry Katona for her stint on the latest Channel 4 series.
The gruelling selection course prompted the mum-of-two to make massive changes in her personal and working life, and also left her with lifelong scars, though she denied taking any legal action against the show.
It comes as fellow participant Ore, 35, recently revealed he was so impacted by his time in the Scottish Hebrides that he opted to get a tattoo as a reminder.
The presenter explained to his fans on Instagram that the image of a torch with the name of his son Roman in the middle was due to a poignant conversation with chief instructor Ant Middleton that cut to his very core and changed his life going forward.
“This tattoo acts as a daily reminder of my inner strength and to never let anyone dim my light. To always shine my torch bright,” the former Strictly Come Dancing star said.
“You don’t need to lift a fuel barrel to realise that. I LOVE it. Hope I made you proud, Roman.”
