Strictly’s Amy’s fiance reveals true feelings towards ‘bully’ Danny John-Jules
Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden and her fiance Ben Jones have said Danny John-Jules is a good friend – just days after an ‘intense’ rehearsal that left Amy in tears.
Appearing in OK! magazine a day after she and Danny were voted off Strictly, Amy and Ben both gushed about their relationship with the Red Dwarf actor.
Ben, who is due to marry Amy next summer, said of his fiancee’s dance partner: "I get along with Danny really well, too. His daughter Danaè loves Amy."
And Amy – who gave the interview before last Wednesday’s shock ‘bust-up’ with Danny, said he had "thrown himself into Strictly".
"We do as many hours as we can fit in! I’m the boss, but we get along really well," she went on.
Of their impending wedding, Amy said she wants "all of the Strictly family" to be there, including the judges – although she didn’t single Danny out by name.
Her comments come days after reports that Amy stormed out of last Wednesday’s rehearsal in tears and told producers she could no longer be partnered with Danny.
The 27-year-old dancer sparked panic among Strictly bosses when she told them: "I can’t go on with him anymore."
But they kept up a united front on social media, and on Friday’s Strictly: It Takes Two admitted things had got "intense".
“Things did get a little intense the other day in rehearsals," Amy told Zoe Ball. "Do you know what? We took a half-hour break and then got straight to it. I never felt bullied or threatened by Danny.
"He thanks me every weekend and so does his partner Petula."
She added: "I think we have a family relationship and Petula says she sees me as part of the family."
On Saturday, Danny insisted he was victim of a ‘vendetta’ by people who want him to fail on the show.
He said: "My conscious is clear over all of it. It seems to be turning into a vendetta.
"For some reason, some people don’t want me to be successful on Strictly. It’s more than just a Strictly story. This is personal."
Danny had earlier mocked bullying claims by tweeting a King Kong movie poster captioned: "My new CV just arrived."
He later added: "I’m a man who says what he means and means what he says."
