The Chase’s Bradley Walsh takes aim at Piers Morgan with cutting dig

Bradley Walsh made a harsh dig at Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan as he hosted The Chase on Tuesday 12 May.

The 59 year old gameshow host took aim at Piers, 55, and labelled him “unpopular” as he introduced the Chasers on the show.

As Bradley, who recently pulled a hilarious prank on Holly Willoughby, ran through the chasers that could be facing the contestants on Tuesday's episode, Bradley made the quip.

As Shaun Wallace, AKA the Dark Destroyer, appeared on screen, he said: “The Dark Destroyer – as unpopular as Piers Morgan at a… well, just about anything, to be honest.”

And the brutal dig didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, who took to Twitter to comment on Bradley’s jibe at Piers.

One wrote: “Piers Morgan how relevant, most hated man in the UK. #thechase.”

While another wrote: “That jab at Piers Morgan there has aged badly. Somehow. #TheChase.”

Piers’ recent criticisms of government officials, who have since “boycotted” interviews with him on Good Morning Britain, has received mixed reviews on social media.

The GMB host, who recently tested negative for coronavirus after exhibiting a mild symptom of the disease, was recently criticised by his former friend Lord Alan Sugar for his interview approach.

Piers and Lord Sugar have enjoyed a long-running friendly feud for many years on social media.

But, it appears to have turned nasty since the coronavirus outbreak, with Alan, 73, even getting Piers’ mother, Gabrielle O'Meara, involved in the row.

Lord Sugar tweeted Piers to criticise him over his grilling of Safeguarding Minister Victoria Atkins over her lack of knowledge on the government pandemic crisis plan Exercise Cygnus as she appeared on the show on Tuesday 29 April.

As he replied to a tweet about Piers’ interview with Victoria, 44, Lord Sugar scathed: “You are a utter disgrace @piersmorgan I don't know who the hell you think you are on your self appointed tirade against the GOV. [sic]"

Alan then brought Piers’ mother Gabrielle in to the row as he asked: “I wonder if Mrs Morgan senior ( your mum ) is proud of you. You need help. You are a bully.”

Gabrielle later hit back at Lord Sugar with: “I am the proudest Mum in the world. The only Journalist doing his job, as you will find out at the end of all this.”

Piers has appeared to ignore Alan’s continuous online jibes on Twitter, but has since revealed Lord Sugar’s scathing comments have “ruined” their friendship.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, he explained: “It's gone way beyond a joke, and for me it's ruined our friendship.

“I think we're done as friends. I can't see through the behaviour.”
