To All The Boys Fans Just Got Some Exciting News
To All the Boys: Always and Forever is the third and final film in the To All the Boys franchise which began with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. The film drops on February 12, just in time for Valentine’s Day. It will be a bittersweet release as fans who have loved the films — and the books they are based on — get one last dose of Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky.
There’s some good news for viewers, though. While there aren’t any To All the Boys spinoffs in the works (that we know of), we will be getting another screen adaptation from To All the Boys author Jenny Han — just not on Netflix.
E! News reported that Amazon will be behind the new show, which will be based on Han’s novel The Summer I Turned Pretty and its sequels, It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer.
Jenny Han is excited for her book series to come to life on screen
The show promises to bring up plenty of the emotions viewers experienced with To All the Boys and centers on a teen romance complete with a love triangle — how can we resist?
“Belly measures her life in summers,” reads the synopsis of the first book on Amazon. “Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer — they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.”
Variety reported that the first season of the new show will consist of eight episodes. Han and TV veteran Gabrielle Stanton have been named as showrunners. “The Summer I Turned Pretty is many years in the making, and I’m so excited to tell Belly’s story in 2021,” said Han in a statement. “For the longtime book fans, I think it will have been worth the wait. For those newly discovering the Summer series, I hope you fall in love with these characters and this place that is so dear to my heart.”
