Tory Lanez charged with felony assault in Megan Thee Stallion shooting
Tory Lanez has been charged with felony assault in connection with the shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
The Canadian rapper was accused of shooting the Savage hitmaker in the foot – allegations that he has strongly denied.
The LA County DA’s Office has charged him with one felony count each of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Lanez, 28, also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.
Lanez was previously arrested and charged with possession of a firearm. He now faces up to 22 years in prison if found guilty.
His arraignment is scheduled for October 13.
Prosecutors said the alleged incident happened on July 12 when Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion, 25, were in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills.
The pair got into an argument, according to prosecutors, and when Megan Thee Stallion got out of the car, Lanez is said to have shot ‘several times’ at her feet, wounding her.
During an Instagram Live, Megan Thee Stallion said: ‘Yes this n***** Tory shot me.
‘You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and s**t. Stop lying.
‘Why lie? I don’t understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you’re dragging it.’
She later posted gruesome images of her injury, with fans and friends sharing messages of support.
Lanez referenced the incident on his new album, denying shooting the Savage rapper.
His new lyrics include: ‘I ain’t do it’ and ‘Megan people trying to frame me for a shooting’, in the track Money Over Fallouts.
The song begins with snippets of news reports about the incident, in which Megan claimed Tory shot her after an argument in his car.
