Billie Eilish understood the assignment.

The singer looked “Happier Than Ever” as she made a memorable return to the Met Gala red carpet on Monday, May 2, wearing a Gilded Age-themed gown by Gucci.

This year’s dress code is “Gilded Glamour” and Eilish went for it with her champagne-colored corseted gown complete with a bustle, lace sleeves and floral detail at the bust.

And while she stuck to the theme, the elegant gown was also sustainable.

“We didn’t have to waste a bunch of stuff,” Eilish told La La Anthony on Vogue’s live stream of the event, adding she “just wanted to be kind of like as eco-friendly as possible.”

Adding sparkling earrings, a black choker dripping with diamonds and plenty of diamond rings, the Grammy winner wore her hair in an elegant updo.

“I’m in a good place,” she told Anthony, adding that she was less nervous this year. “I just want to have fun and talk and socialize.”

Her red carpet appearance follows 2021’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe when Eilish — who co-chaired the 2021 gala with Timothée Chalamet, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka — wore a stunning peach Oscar de la Renta gown inspired by old Hollywood glamour.

Eilish modeled her 2021 Met Gala look to emulate the dress Monroe wore to the 1951 Oscars; perfect for the 2021 theme of “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”

“Big dresses were my favorite thing when I was a kid,” she revealed in a Vogue “Behind the red carpet” video showing her preparing for the 2021 event.

“I had so many dresses. I would wear a dress every single day. It’s really body image that tore that shit down. Why do you think I’ve been dressing the way I have for years?”
